cs3 ps problem

i have a colour booster with an onyx rip and i have been saving all my work as ps files from indesign cs2 and it has been working perfectly...

now i have upgraded to cs3 and the strangest thing happens every time.
about one third of the image disappears when the ps file is ripped.

i am a newbie in this field, only one year experience, so if anyone might know how to fix this it would just make my day - literally...

i am still using the same ppd files (i think), which is adobe...

can anyone help me???

Not experiencing the identical problem, but I do have problems with CS3 postscripts, too. When I use Preps to impose them, they drop some type. Never happened with CS2, so now I have to distill a PDF for CS3 jobs.

Why not export the pdf from IDCS3? Does that create other problems?

Thanks,

Al Ferrari

Yes, it causes other problems - my RIP won't process them for some reason. I can export out of CS2 and the RIP will handle them, but there's something it doesn't like about CS3 PDFs. Believe me, I tried everything because I'd rather export directly because it is faster.

On the topic - my DocuSP driving the iGen doesn't like CS3 either.
Both printing directly to it, or an Exported PDF.
I also have to print to .ps and distill.

As far as the initial post goes can you make a distill a PDF and will all of the information show?

As far as the other posts go, I have been writing postscript files and the Brisque hasn't given me any problems yet. Although, if I do have a problem, I usually see that same problem in the PDF once I do Distill. Also, have you guys been having the problem when exporting as a PDF out of CS3?

Yes sir.

EDIT: Only my DocuSP fights me on this.. my MetaDimension RIP eats it up - no matter what it is.
Actually - the Meta will RIP & print the same file no problems at all. DocuSP is ******VERY****** finicky about what I send it. But it does variable data - so...... I guess that's the selling point. Yuck..

Although I use a Brisque to output the plates, I don't use a conventional Brisque workflow. The postscripts from the layout app get placed in the Preps' run list, then I print an imposed postscript and rip it on PS/M 8. I think Preps is what is having the issue in my case, because I can preview the sig and see where type is dropping. I can print the same postscript from CS2 and Preps has no problem with it at all.

We're ripping to Brisque pages and using those in Preps after trapping them.

I haven't done a lot of CS3 jobs since it's still fairly new, but any issues I've seen would have been in CS2 also (files not being set up right).
