Solid line in center of gradient

Received from customer a 28 page PDF created in CS2 on PeeCee and saved directly out of Indesign PDF version 1.6.
Six of the pages had gradients created with 2 colors- deviceN color space magenta yellow going from say 2% at top to 98% mid to 2% bottom.
The PDF's appeared fine untill paginated in Preps 5.2 PDF workflow on Mac and ripped PS level 3 and output on Epson Pro 10600 proofer.
Then we noted a solid thin line running thru the gradient at its darkest mid- point.
I had the customer remake the PDF's by printing to PS and distilling in Acrobat which fixed all the pages with gradients except for one! I tried redistilling that page myself to no avail and the customer finally agreed to just let it run that way due to time constraints.
Has this happened to any of you and if so what did you discover causing it?
All ideas welcome.

can you bring that one page into photoshop and delete all but the gradient. Then rasterize and replace back into indy document. that might work. Maybe open a copy of the one page in acrobat and delete all but the gradient. then open pdf in photoshop.

That might be a quick fix.
