Forcing InDesign to NOT create outlines of text

Just wondering as I stumble through another challenge with transparency........

I'm making a pdf through InDesign CS and there is text on top of a transparency effect. (drop shadow, etc). Some of the text is over it and some is just on the blank page. The part that is over it is being converted to outlines so when it prints.....that text looks a little bolder than the other text.

I've played around with all of the settings for flattening but when I go into the flattening preview...no matter what I do....it shows that it will convert the text to outlines. I AM saving in the eps 1.3 (whatever) level for certain reasons.

Now, I realize that if I export the pdf from Indesign itself and not export eps pages and later distill....whew...then I can avoid this problem.

What I've been trying to do is rasterize that drop shadow thing hoping that the text will treat it like a tiff or something and it will not convert.

I see this all as a very big problem for us unitl we get up to date on our proofing device (coming soon....)

Any tips? Anyone been there done that???

The text needs to be the topmost element for this not to happen.

Go http://studio.adobe.com/us/tips/tip....n2ppprintrrans

it should help you understand outputting transparency. Adobe Studio also has a lot of other good tutorials covering all aspects of all their products, you have to register but it's well worth it.
