Pages move around

In a book I've just designed, my editor asked me to transpose a textbox and a graphics box on page one. I did it. Page 2 lost its textbook to page 5 and other pages moved around.

Since Page 1 was part of a master page with a textbox on it, I decoupled from the master. Same problem.

Needless to say, I didn't save the file. But if anyone can help me figure out how to stop this from happening, I'd appreciate the advice.

Maybe try a "select all" on the 1st page and then lock position. Then try adding your text and graphic...

you could also try to add a new layer to page 1 and put your transposed text and graphic on it.

More fun with CS3~!! What OS are you on?
I've found CS3 runs far better on my Windows XP box than my OS X.4.9 box.

Either way, you could try to save your file out as an .inx file and open it in CS2... might work.

CS3 is shakey, save yourself some headache and use CS2 until a few more updates come out.
just my .02......

Thank you. I still have CS2 on one laptop so it's worth trying.

Yea.. it might work. Never know until you try.
Post back and let us know if you're able to edit the pages without any problems.

I have to ask. What area are you in. A coal cracker with a laptop doesn't seem to fit.

If you "copy" or "cut" any linked box and paste to another location you will loose any links attached to it. The best way to move boxes with text or file links is to zoom out a bit and drag the item to be moved from one page to another. this will maintain the link and won't re-flow your text . Also see if "Auto Adjust Layout" is selected in the preferences, this may be why the pages are "moving" (also check in the pull down menu under 'Layout' in the menu bar)
