joe - yes thanks - its something we've become particular about, having been burnt by it. have to fess up to being embarassed at making such an error, but the customer was really very good to us - as was my boss.

it was done before we got oris pdf tuner, and pdf tuner will check and correct white overprints as well - i'm still feeling stoopid even though it happened three years ago!

paul - if you can - can you view individual seps - if so - are they correct even though the preview isnt? is there some "view with overprint" setting that needs enabling?

We had the same thing happen to us. It looked alright in Acrobat with the overprint preview on, but the pantone colour under the shading was not there in the final prints. As the printer had decided to print digitally instead of off-set, we figured it was because of his converting the pantone to cmyk.

If you write a 1.4 pdf instead of a 1.3, it should come out alright, though I haven't tested it yet.

transparency in InDesign

hi all
hope I am not confusing things by being very ignorant, but I have also had this problem before I have been told repeatedly that the issue is the inability of InDesign to flatten transparency over a spot colour.

Don't know if the apogee thing helped your actual end product or just the onscreen view, but I deliberately switch off my overprint preview in acrobat in order to pick up on these kinds of problems before sending them to print (work in a publishing house).

The only solution I have discoered is to embed the spot colour into the raster image used in the original InDesign file, rather than using InDesign transparency. I flatten the raster file and save as a DCS2 eps.

works perfectly every time!
