Outputting postscript files from indesign in tiger
Was wondering if anyone had come across this problem, we are having to export as a pdf from indesign instead of making a postscript file and then distilling, has anyone come across this???
Cheers

Sure, it's actually the preferred method of outputting from InDesign.
You are referring to File > Export > Format: PDF, right?

Yeah i know, but we have some files that need to be run thru distiller as a p/script file, in tiger we cant select a ppd so we dont have any output options, eg; page size, we seem to have a few problems with transperency when we dont Postscript, doesnt happen on every job juts certain designs.

What specific problems are you having?
We've had one major reason why it's better for us to write a postscript as opposed to exporting a pdf.
There have been times because of transparency that the pdf worked better, but those have been few.

Can't select a PPD in Tiger? Did you recently upgrade to Tiger and maybe didn't move your PPs to the right spot? I can generate postscript from ID in Tiger - in fact, that is my preferred workflow. I typically use Device Independent so I don't have to worry about all the page settings, but sometimes I need to use a PPD and can do it just fine.
Your PPDs go here: Your Hard Drive>System>Library>Printers>PPDs>Contents>Resour ces>en.lproj

You should be able to use the Acrobat 7 PPD as a print driver.
Has that given you any problems or not?

I have got my ppd's in the correct spot. When i select Printer- Postscript File, then the PPd drop down only has device independant available, no other ppd's show up.

Do you have your printers set up in the Printer Setup utility?
Maybe once they are an option through there, they'll be recognized by the application.
Just a thought.

I will usually export a EPS file, then distill that, it just seems easier to me.....
