Index not putting names in alphabetical order

Has anyone had this problem? I have generated the index and notice in some places, the index is not alphabetizeing correctly. It is putting de after del. I have tried everything I can think of and it ignores me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm using InDesign CS2 4.04 on Mac OS X.

Anyone? I narrowed it down to a space as being the problem. Whenever there is a space after a word, it automatically puts that word at the end. For example:

Arte is going before Art

Dale is going before Da Vinci

Anyone know why this is happening?
