Print Preview Size Not Actual Size

Haven't seen this one discussed before, wondering if anyone else has seen this.

InD file is weird size - 9.0275" wide x 8.0155" high.

When I go to print the file, I add 1 inch exactly to the size of the printed piece to allow for bleeds. I also choose "centered".

When I click on the small box in the lower left corner of the print dialog, I noticed that the small display there says that the file is a different size.

I've posted a small pic to show you what I mean.

Why does it say that the size of the document is 9.0139" wide x 8.0139" high when actually it isn't that size at all. It's close, but it's not that size.

This doesn't seem to happen on normal 8.5 x 11 sizes, just the oddball weird sizes - that I seem to get alot of lately - it's a custom diecut piece.

I have no idea, but I am curious about something. Have you changed
the page size in the Page Setup yet? Or do you do that at the end of
selecting the print dialog tabed options? Probably has nothing to do with
anything.

One other thing. What's in the layout? A linked layout (like a pdf), or
a whole of many parts? Again, probably has nothing to do with
anything.

I'm at home so I can't try it, though I will in the morning.

Don't know if this helps but .0139 is 1 pt rounded to the nearest 10,000th. Maybe in the print dialog ID has to round to the nearest point? Just a guess.

This sounds as good as anything. I can duplicate the problem in CS2, but nothing
I suggested or asked about fixes it (insert shocked gasp here).

Interesting and makes sense.

This doesn't seem to happen on pages that have nice round numbers like 8, 8.5, 10 and so on. It just happens on the weird sized files where the width is carried out to 4 decimal places.

I add one inch to each the width height, and then select 'center' as the option, so it's printing centered on the weird page size and doesn't seem to be an issue.

The InD preferences all say 'inches' in the options.

Just one of those things I guess
