some problem about placing illustrator pdf into indesign

Here I had 1 PC with Adobe CS2
and 1 PC with Adobe CS
and 1 MAC with Adobe CS2
Recently I found out that there are 2 cases in my output film got broken "l" (small letter of "L") in the pdf file that "save as pdf" in Illustrator CS2.
In screen preview, all look ok, no broken "l", it only come out in output.
This happen when I place the pdf file in PC Adobe CS or MAC Adobe CS2.
It only can output correctly when it is put at PC Adobe CS2.
1 thing is the letter of "l" already convert to path so don't know why when output can get broken "l" in film.
anyone got comment and solution?
thanks.

Is there any placed pictures anywhere near the text that is cutting?

Make sure your text layers on are top.

nope, no picture at all, only text that convert to outline.
Now I found a new thing is when it is pdf 1.5 or 1.6 , it have this broken "l"
but when it is save to pdf 1.4 and place in Indesign CS, it is ok and no more broken.
Is that related to pdf version?

I've had the same thing with PDF's created in Illy CS2. If you open them with Acrobat 6 they display broken and print broken. If you open them in Acrobat 7 they display fine and print fine. It only happens on text that has been outlined and only to letters that are perfect rectangles like lower case "L" and upper case "I". My only solution is to be sure to use Acrobat 7.

ok thanks.
Don't know why adobe not fix this kind of bug.
They keep coming out new version of product but seldom fix major bug in previous vrsion and make it stable.

Hi Folks,
I have often gotten ?broken? letters on my film from many of the CS2 programs. If you have a work flow that lets you edit traps (mine is Rampage) you will see that many of the areas that react with transparency have been broken up into odd shaped little boxes. Some of them are vector, and some of them have been rasterized. The areas that have been ?rasterised? will have your default bitmap trapping applied. (In my case it is set to ?choke?) In many cased, this will not match the part of the item that was left vector. That will give you a line the size of your preset trap value. So, you will see your ?broken L.? With Rampage, I?m able to select the areas that are incorrectly set to choke and change the trap type and/or trap value to get the appearance of the partial letters to match. The break is still there, it just does not show up, and that is all I care about :-). (I?m not sure how other rip/trap workflows handle this.)
