Indesign CS + Font Issue

Hi all,
Since a couple of days i'm experiencing something weard in my indesign files. Maybe you guys can help me out?
When i open old files (some, not all) he apparantly automaticaly changes my fonts to Italic (and again, not all, but most).
This is very weard, especialy when i select the text and change it says its Roman (for ex. with Times) - switching between Italic and Roman doesnt change a thing.
Is this a conflict of fonts? and a font matter?
Or is this caused by indesign??

I havent done anything different in the last 6months on my computer... nothing new installed lately or whatsoever....

Hope someone knows a solution?
Kind Regards,
Tom

What OS and platform are you using? Close all unused fonts. Try trashing your InDesign preferences and reboot.

Am using mac os X (10,3,9)
I'll try what you said - but since this is happening a couple of days now - and i must have rebooted a couple of times already in that time i'm not sure..

I use mac os X's Font Book. So close all unused fonts??

Are these old files from Indesign 2?

Were the fonts fake bold styled or something?

You may try doing a "find" on your Mac for "adobefnt" files, and when the list pops up, delete all the .lst files and leave the .db files.

or..
You may also try this font utility to clean your font caches.

Yes, in font book close the fonts you do not need and for good measure restart both fontbook and Indesign. If that doesn't do it, locate InDesign's preference file and trash it and reboot. InDesign will generate a new pref. file. You can also download a free font utility called "Font Finagler" (google it) that will clean up your font caches.

Hi,

@ david_maberry

Yes, files already been saved a little while ago - even posible on another Indesign (same version but other mac)
No, the fonts where not fake bold styled or something, however, in this one particulare case i get the conflict i usualy get= the files made on the other Mac (the mac's as well as the Indesign are all same versions and same software) probably uses different fonts!
Like in this particulare case, he asks to change a "Times (TT)" into a "Times".

I did a search on AdobeFnt and deleted 12 *.lst ones. And did a restart. But that didn't change anything.

The program sugested, font utility, works only on tiger like i posted before, i have a 10.3 mac os

@ jimking

I downloaded 'Font Finagler' and cleaned up my font caches. Didn't work eather

Okey, i fixed it - by doing this:

* Quit InDesign.
* Drag the "Version [version]" folder from the "Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign" folder to the Desktop.
* Restart InDesign.

And the issue seems to be fixed - thnx all for the help!
