InDesign Master Pages Problem

Ok I have to create a book from scratch. I have set up some master pages with graphics and stuff. The problem I have is the text boxes on the master pages become locked and useless once I apply the master pages to a page in my document. Is it possible to set up master pages with text boxes I can use and change once I have applied the pages to my document.???

This is actually one area where I think Quark does it better. In InDesign, you need to go to the pages palette and choose "Override all master page items" to access the text boxes. Or, if you only want to override a couple of the items, Command-Shift-Click on the item to make it editable.

Agree. Tried everything to unlock the text boxes, no go.

The master page items can be overridden pretty easily, while keeping
them linked back to the master. Cmmd + Shift + mouse click will let you
edit the content, move the item, change it's size, whatever. I think you
can even edit the item, then still move the master page item down the road
if need be. The Cmmd + Optn + Shift + L will remove some of the editability
and portions of the linking to the master.
