Problems with InDesign
I have several ads that I am getting from ad agency's and even our own ads that we build are having problems seperating when sent from InDesign to our Rip. For instance, I have an ad from an Ad agency that was built right, and they may have even used a PMS color. The PMS color is turning out right but my blacks are seperating to CMYK. I have tested these ads before being sent to the rip, by either opening them in photoshop and going through the seperations there and the blacks are 100% black with nothing else in it. I have also done a test by pulling the ad into Indesign and printing to file and selecting print seperations making a pdf and seeing if it seperates that way and it does. So my question is why in the world is it not working right when it is being sent to our RIP? Any suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks so much!

We are getting these ads from an ad agency so we don't know what settings they are saving them at. We do know that they are at least 300 dpi. Our Rip is a Panther Pro 46.

Do you have access to Pitstop?

Okay, go to your Indesign CS2 preferences and drag down to "Appearance of Black" and in the pull down next to Printing/Exporting select "Output All Blacks Accurately".
It sounds like you have it set for rich blacks.

Is this just black type or anything colored black (like boxes, frames, etc)?
Are they (or you), exporting to pdf or saving a .ps and using distiller?
