I just tried this on my InDesign CS. I made a new document named Test.indd. The I exported and the default name was Test.pdf. Then I did a Save As and named the new file Test1.indd. Then exported again and it defaulted to Test1.pdf. So then just to double check I closed the doc. Made a new one named X51JTSU8BS.indd and then exported that and the name defaulted to X51JTSU8BS.pdf. I'm using OS X 10.3.9. Are you by chance using Tiger? Maybe it's a Tiger thing?
