Overprint Text Only

Using CS2. Trying to overprint just the 100% black text but not the 100% black shapes that were drawn in InDesign. Using the overprint 100% black in the preferences causes the shapes to overprint.
Is there a way to just make the black text overprint without having to manually select every bit of black text and telling it to overprint with the attributes box?

I'm hoping to find both a way to make it work with a composite PDF exported from InDesign and printing directly from InDesign.

If theres a lot of text, what about selecting the shapes and setting them not to overprint? Or filling them with 99.9% black?

With the preference set to always print black [100%] to overprint you must either:
- create a new black called myBlack made of 100%K and use this OR
- use as previously suggested 99.9% black

I'd opt for the first option.

Keep the always overprint black option on in the preferences. On the transparency palette (atleast in CS) you can select each of these black objects and mark them for knockout.

Edit the style sheet, even the default style sheet.
