Indesign CS2 Text problems

We are having a text reflowing problem in Indesign. When we bring in an ID file in with an other ID file to manually paginate the job we cannot bring it in with out the text reflowing. The text boxes have been linked. We are doing this job on a PC, that is how we got the file. Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to PPF!

Okay, what version of Indesign?
Do both of the files look okay (as far as text rag is concerned) before merging together?

curious,
David

Hi thanks for the welcome.

We are using ID CS2 on a PC. The text looks fine on both files alone, until you gang both of the files up.

Are styles assigned to the text? If so is the text you are 'pasting' into the new document adopting the new document's styles?

Also if you happen to require a PDF output, you might consider the book function to combine the documents. Do NOT synchronise styles if you think that is the culprit.

Cheers

New to ID. How do you keep the text styles for each file when ganging the jobs together? How do you not synchronise the styles? -Thanks

You could generate PDFs of each file and place those in INDD.
That should keep that PITA text from moving..... or create outlines.
just a thought..

Change the style names in the second file put a number in front of it or something. If you are copying and pasting...

Do not click the Synchronise button in book palette if you are "booking".

See Adobe Help Center for more info on book palette usage.

Are you using exactly the same font as the people you got the file from? Can you ask them to supply the font?

My co-worker got it to work by turning it into a .pdf. He likes to use that as his last option. Outlines worked also. Good to know for next time.

Thanks for all your help
