Trapping in InDesign CS2

Okay, I'll make this as quick as possible. I know very very little about trapping. I've never had a need to know but now it's time to learn.

I can't for the life of me get it work right... given my lack of experience in trapping, it's not surprising really. I've used the one default preset available and regardless of whether I make a PDF or send it through our RIP I keep getting the same thing..... white boxes everywhere when an container overlays the spot color.

I've also attempted to not use ID's trapping feature and let our RIP (second newest version of NEXUS) handle the trapping which works fine with Quark but the same issue appears that way too.... Even when I print with the same settings as in Quark.

So basically, does anyone know how the heck to solve this problem? Also, does anyone know of anywhere that you can download ID trap presets?

Thanks,
Soilworker

So.... you use a PDF workflow right. Scratch the whole layout app trapping stuff. You don't need it, keep it simple!
Check this link, it's a MAC and PC plug-in for Acrobat - rediculously fast and easier than you could dream up. Customize traps (after you figure them out) to perfection for any ink combo. There is a demo available. I promise you will not be sorry, if so I'll buy lunch for a month!!

Price - dunno, call your rep.
Acrobat 5, 6 and 7.
here's your 'demo - you can only view the traps with this if my memory serves me correct.

or not, you can view the Trapeditor window not the traps. Scroll over the buttons to see the function of each. All the functions are disabled.... sorry.

Indesign's trap styles only works with some version of adobe in-rip trapping, at least that's what the Indesign help told me.

It's good to understand trapping - but remember if your getting your job printed -the printing company will do the trapping for you. If they don't trap your files and leave it up to you, it's time to find a new printer.
