File size gets bigger with each save....

Hey guys -

I've actually got a 2 part problem.

I had this file - 117 pages, 70mb. Somehow got partially corrupt, it wanted to do document recovery, after when I opened it (all the information was fine) I couldn't 'save as' or 'save a copy'. No idea how this happened, or why, (thoughts?) but I took the file and broke it out into 8 smaller files - one for each section of the book.

The combined size of the 8 files was 36mb - almost 1/2 of the original file size! No idea why this is either, but not questioning it.

I went to work on one section - 6mb - and with each save, the file size increased, and now it's 13mb. While that's not really big or anything, it's DOUBLE the size. No idea why/how this is happening.

Any thoughts on this? I'd love to know what the hell is going on!

THANKS!

Every time you save a document, you are appending data to the end of the file. Doing a "save as" will re-write the document to the disc and purge those intermediate "saves". So if you create a document, save it 6 times, you've added 5 "sessions" that add file size. Doing a "save as" will re-write the document and purge those 5 "saves" thereby reducing the file size.
