Screen problems

Hello all,
I am having a bit of difficulty with a little transparency. I have screened rings (about 20% cyan) and I am trying to knock those out of a background spot screen from 100% to 5%. The rings are also on top of two images which the customer wants the rings to fade the images a bit. I was wondering if anyone would know the best way to get this to separate correctly so that the rings knock out of the background and fade ontop of the images. I appreciate the time.
Oh and for extra credit I have a Tiff or EPS drop shadow that is supposed to print under the fish but everything I am trying with the rings is making the Tiff distorted.
Thanks again

i think you may need to use the pathfinder divide on the rings and image - then you'll have seperate parts of the ring to edit

you should then be able to select the rings and trap the parts for the spot screen, then apply a blend mode to the parts overlapping the images

should work - good luck

if that doesnt work, copy the rings, get the copy (think layers here) on top of the background and trap accordingly

if i've got this right, you should now have the images and rings above these - well - apply the blends to the rings as you need and mask the bits you dont - this will then allow the other rings to show

so there's 2 ways - hope this helps
