Patterns moving.....

I'm working on floor plans and I have to drop tiles into the kitchen and bathrooms.....so I made a pattern swatch. I'm dropping it into different rooms........BUT, then I have to move it and tweak it into position in every room. Seems the client likes one full floor tile at all room entrances. I position the patterns in each room and save and close the file. Later when I open the file the patterns have moved. They are lining up across all the art in the file where they were placed. I'm using the "~" to move the patterns in each shape, but obviously the positions are not being held.

My remedy has been to duplicate the pattern and give it a new name. So in one file if I have 5 rooms that need floor tile, I have to have 5 swatches of the same pattern with different names. This is retarded! There has to be a way to use one pattern in multiple shapes and be able to custom position it in each shape (without it moving when you open the file later).

Anyone else have this problem?

Try Object/EXPAND on your patterns before you close. They shouldn't move now.

Woah!
It put tons of vector around the shapes. This kinda makes working in "outline" mode a little bit much (busy). Is this the only fix? Like I said I just duplicated the pattern and gave it a new name then dropped it on a shape and it held it's position.

I wouldn't consider it a fix,maybe a workaround.
Not exactly sure why it's moving on you but seems you already have a workaround.

Are you working in CS2 (12.01) ?

Just reply me on what happens.
