crop marks

well of course make sure your paste board is larger than the trim so the marks show up.

and check your layers....double click on the layer the crops are on, and make sure "PRINT" is checked!

dunno what the hell else it could be.

yeah my artbord i big enough to fit everything in. i tried switching off all layers and the crop marks on screen did not disappear. so i guess they are not on a layer?
one more question. is it possible to put more than one set of crop marks? because when i make another square into crop marks the old ones disappears

yes it is - draw your own marks.

did you turn the other marks to guides by mistake?

To get printable crop marks, you want to go to Filter -> Create -> Crop marks.
If you are going to Object -> Crop Area -> Make... you are doing just that, creating your crop area. When you create these crop marks, they are editable, printable crop marks. You can make as many of those as you want.
I'm lazy too - I know all the lazy shortcuts! Actually - we do a lot of cut to shape things, and this is the best way to create exterior crop marks.
Good luck!

wait! it still doesnt print the crop marks. i have created them from filter/create/crop marks. when i go to print i check print trim marks from the print menu but those are just crop marks it creates on its own - not the ones i created, and therefore in the wrong place.
now im thinking that it might not print them here in the studio but will it print them when i sent it for offset?
im i making any sense?
thanks

I'm not sure I understand why they aren't printing.
Check to make sure the color on them is black, and not "registration".
If you have your artboard bigger than your crop marks, then they should print.
How are you printing? What are you printing to?
Try to save your AI file as a PDF, then open the PDF in Acrobat. If the crop marks are not on there, then there is something else going on here.
Jon
