Clipping Path in Illustrator CS2and Masking in Corel

My operator uses Corel 12 and Adobe Illustrator CS2.

While using PowerClip tool in Corel 12, he places big size Image/Picture (200x200 mm) in a small size Container/Box (100x100 mm). There after while selecting Image/Picture, the selected size will be 100x100mm only; and not the inside placed Image i.e. 200x200 mm. This helps a lot when Step and Repeat is done.

This does not happen in AICS2, after using Clipping Mask tool. Selected size will be of Image size 200x200 mm and not 100x100 mm. Hence, step and repeat becomes very difficult!!! Because we do not want any distance, or very little distance between two images.

Secondly, in Corel, at the time of enlargement, Box and Images both are enlarged and masked area remains same, where as in AICS2, Box is enlarged and Clipped Image in the Box will remain of the same size and unmasked area of Image will open up.
Any solution??

Use Corel, just don't send the files my way. Using a mask in Illustrator doesn't "crop" the image, it just masks it. Use the crop tool if thats what you want or crop it before import in Photoshop. BTW you can still repeat the image, just use the image center and masked size for position.
