Stretching a line

I've never figured this one out.

When stretching out a single line (might also happen on a box, can't remember) from one end from a certain zoom level it centres the line within some weird bounding box, so that the result is that the line is stretched a little but the point that I didn't click on has moved and the point that I did stretch is no longer attached to the mouse pointer, but the line is centred inside the bounding box that appears as some sort of guide during the operation...

Argh, hard to explain, but you know it if it's happened to you. The Fix? Zoom in a bit more.

Does anyone know what the hell this is??

yeah i have a similar issue sometimes

what i do is fit page to window first, "stretch"/or alter etc the element to roughly where I want it going and then zoom in more for more accurate positioning

its a wierd one granted.
