Illus CS file in 4/C!!!

Good afternoon,
I have a "pie chart" created in illus CS. Three SPOT colors are selected for different portions of the chart. The chart is grouped with paths, etc.

The problem is for some reason this chart is converting to 4/C at the rip stage.
all other Illus CS files are fine. There is something with the way the "pie chart" was created.

Any ideas??
Thanks!
MDK

Any "tint" of a PMS spot color is considered to be transparent and thus needs to be flattened. Flattening PMS spots results in convertion to process.

Check to make sure global color is turned off in the spot color swatch properties.

Tints of PMS colors, if built right, dont need to be flattened.

Spot colors that are flattened do not convert to CMYK they stay as spot. Hence the warning in Illustrator if you save an eps that has transparency and spot colors. The warning says something to the effect if you convert spot colors to process outside of Illustrator you will not get the results you are looking for.

global is checked and greyed out for each spot color.

I received no such warning.

I believe Ill 10 and below converted spots to CMYK when flattened. CS will retain spots when flattened.

Illustrator 9 and above did retain spot colors in transparencies as I used them.

You will not get the warning if you have told the warning to never remind you again or you are not using any transparency.[/quote]
