not a very important ILLUSTRATOR CS question

I am running illustrator cs on a pc.

When i select an object there is no bounding box (free transform box) I can press "e" to bring it up. is there a way to get it to have the transform bounding box on all the time like illustrator 10? ive went through the preferances and it doesnt seem to have anything in it. even when i have the "use bounding box" option on or off it doesnt seem to make a differance......

Also....
Illustrator cant read the template files form the cd or the template folder. keeps saying there an unsuported formatt......

thanks

I had that bounding box problem on a Mac and trashing the prefs fixed it. I'm not sure how trash preference files on the PC but try reinstalling.

Ctrl+Shift+B toggles the Hide/Show Bounding Box. You can also find it under the View menu. When they are shown, whenever you select an item with the main cursor (V) the box will appear with handles. 'E' is the shortcut to the Transform tool itself, not the view. I've never used the Tranform Tool before... Ever...

Is this what you're asking about? I'm not at work right now, but that was the Illus. 10 method and I'm 95% sure it's the same in CS.

Yes the Shift+Control+B hides and shows the bounding box, and if you ever rotate a group of objects or a single object go to "Object">"Transform">Reset bounding box and it will re-orient itself. Try it.

PS I use Transform all the time both in Illustrator and Photoshop very powerful and quick little tweaking tool. 8)
