overprint white????

had a very strange problem the other day.............

had to image a white Illustrator logo with type on a black background with a 40% cyan screen behind the black.

I look at the rip pilot and see that the logo is white (knocked out) while the other part (text) had the 40% screen running through it.

So this was a new one...

Opened the file in Illustrator to find that the white text was set to overprint. It was probobly black text at one point and someone converted it to white without taking the over print setting off.

Strange but true..

Newer version of AICS sets white to overprint. You need to check all white and set to KO. I hate white and always use 0% of color instead then there is no overprint problem.

The creative department of my company has done that to me more than once. They have a standard library of logos ect, but can they take the time to fix this little "bug" nooooo! The only up side for me that they moved to a PDF workflow and now when they preview with overprint on in Acrobat they see it, most of the time.
