3D Circles with a spot flash in illustrator

Hello,

this has been driving me crazy and im sure it is smething simple I am missing. Can anyone recommend how to replicate the circle in the CTV logo (link is below) I want the circle to have a nice 3D look with that little burst of light on the top corner. I an trying to find a way to do it in illustrator but am having no luck. Any suggestions??

I think the gradient mesh tool can get that look.
I dont use that tool often so I cant instruct you exactly how to do it, but I believe that to be the tool to use.

You could also place a white circle in the upper-left corner and gaussian blur it
