Proofer profiling in MetaDimension
Anyone using Meta Dimension to do the profiling of their inkjet proofer? Specifically what are the components to print, read, and iterate the ICC profiles?

It's not Meta alone-
Meta alone is the RIP/Renderer.
It's ColorProof Pro you need for the tasks you are asking about.

Vee, what are you using for a reader? The machine has Color Proof pro. Already driving an Epson 7600. We don't have the tools/ software to print or read swatches or make profiles or do iterations. Been pitched a few things but don't really understand how the Helidelburg stuff goes together.

EDIT:
You'll need PrintOpen too - do you guys have it?
I think now it comes in the Profile Toolbox.

Proofing/Profiling/Calibration
We're running colour proof pro with our Meta/Signa & Epson 7800 - but we did'nt buy a photospectrometer when we had the install - money was a little tight - I found a guy who's happy to come in every 6 months and calibrate the proofer for me - seems to work for us - I'ts probably not the ideal situation - Would the Epson drift much over this timeframe?

Lammy,
I'm using an XRite DTP-41 Autoscan to do the reading.
Are you making any head way?

what I'm gathering so far is that color proof pro is applying the icc profiles to each printed proof. Print Open is a set of tools to print, read and iterate(?) a set of targest as well as generate the ICC files.
so all that's really missing is the tools to calibrate and quality control the proofer. Geting and EFI system would be redundent.
DTP 41 is a strip reader right? Anyone know if there's an X-Y reader that works with the heildelburg stuff, like the eye one IO?

Hi Lammy,
You already got some good answers here. ColorProof Pro is an option to the MetaDimension rip. ColorProof Pro has the drivers for the printers and also the tolos for calibration/linearization of the printer. You would also apply your ICC profiles here.We have the Heidelberg CMM for calculation the color conversion and Prinect Profile Toolbox, which has two programs, Print Open and Quality Monitor. Print Open is used to generate ICC profiles. Quality Monitor is for checking proofs to proof or press sheets to press sheets or proof to press sheets for short or long term analysis. There are many different Spectrophotometers supported such as the Spectroscan, Spectrolino, ICColor, DtP70, I do not remember them all, there must be 15 or more. Next version will support Eye One-IO and ISis. If you need me to, I can get a full list after I get back from vacation. So you can get the sw you need and we can come out to teach you how to profile or we can even come onsite with the sw and our own Spectro to generate the profile the press and proofer.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Mark
