Prinect Printready Cockpit - Slow as grandpa joe! (Mac)

Hi all, can anyone tell me how to speed up cockpit? I find it to be slow as grandpa and it's very frustrating! I am using version 3.0. I am on a Mac G5, 1.8 ghz - 5gb of SDRAM - OSX 10.4.9. I wish they had not used java for this program or at least designed it on a mac first (instead of a PC and then port it over to a mac). Any tips or tricks to speed this old dog up will be highly appreciated.

Thanks...

Is the Mac a dual processor? I personally have used both platforms, the PC is better, faster. I worked with ver 3.0 with floating license.

Intel doesnt fix the issue... Dual processor does help. As a Mac Maniac it is very frustrating to use Heidelberg software...

to me most of the slow down seems to be how many files are in the folders. The more jobs on the system the slower it runs.

Here is a question for you all... Does it take 30 to 45 minutes to open printready on a Mac (intel or powerpc - single or dual processor) It takes 15 minutes on the PTData Server.

Opening Printready is a hour of our day times 10. Why so long for a server based app?

Single 2.1GHz with 1.5Gb or memory, 100bps network connection, takes about 10 minutes.

In some ways I guess our volume is not meant for this system. We have about 700 to 1000 jobs in printready at any given time. Between all the jobs out on proof, campaigns and total re-brands waiting - I cannot minimize the jobs.

They are separated in folders which speeds up the process while in cockpit but i guess it really hangs up the startup. But we could have up to 200 4c business cards in the shop being processed at any given time then we have all the long lasting brochure packages along side that. The printready database can just be slow.
