Fuji Xerox 6060 Digital Black Printing

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out (as the Xerox guys were vague as can be...) We have a 6060 at work. We often get jobs in and we don't know if they're going to be printed digital or offset (depends on run length, etc). For offset we prefer grayscale images to image on the black plate only, but on the digital 6060 black only toner looks very washed out, lacks definition. If we convert the black only images to CMYK mix (neutral grays) before printing on the 6060 they look awesome, but of course this isn't ideal for the press. Wondering if this is common to most production digital printers and if so what kind of workarounds people are using...

Cheers, Tony

I would create a pdf of whatever file you got in then run it through pitstop to convert the file to the correct color. You could set up an action to convert all black to whatever black build you want and to convert black grayscales to 4-color grayscale if you want that too. Take about 2 secs to create a simple action like that.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your suggestion. That actually sounds like it will work a treat!

if you're using a efi, check with them for an upgrade to the latest efi system.

it comes with a function to converts process black to "use black toner only".
