Looking for a new color copier

A few years ago we moved from a canon clc to a canon c3200. the quality was not as good, but the speed made up for it. So we are ready to buy again. I have the ikon people wanting to sell me a bizpro 650. I would like to look at xerox, konica/minolta and canon. Does any one have any suggestions? I hear the new canon image press is slow.

Exclamation

Well, I'm not going to make any real recommendations but we have the Bizhub 650 with Fiery rip. Let me tell you it's a bit of a disappointment. The machine cannot hold a solid color across the paper especially in lighter color builds. We can have one side go from pink to tan when it's supposed to be all tan. The techs have not fixed this yet and we've had it since January.
There are good things about the machine however. It is faster, handles rich black beautifully, has better registration for double sided than our DocuColor 2045 did. The onboard finishing is nice but a bit lacking. The folder is extremely slow but it works.
Ikon told us the machine would do all these things and then we find out it didn't.
Make sure if you are seriously looking at this machine to have a large number of print samples for them to test out for you. And make sure to clarify click charges on B&W and color. We found out that we have a minimum run before we get charged a click for each month. Turns out it's only for color! Any black and white prints we get charged for the click no matter what.

copier ideas

they are shooting us a 5000/ month basic plan $.07/click seems a bit high.
I am (like everyone else) looking for a fast 30cpm and cheap $.05 to $.06/click. OH, and hi quality. who was the guy that test all the copiers and sells a report?

Canon 5185

We just got a new Canon 5185 into our shop last week. We had a Xerox Docucolor/2240 (SUCKED!!!!!!). It took us a long time to decide on what we wanted. It all came down to the fact that with PMS colors the Canon had a lot more control and features in case you needed to make adjustments. The speed and quality is outstanding. It runs 80# Matte cover stock from the drawers and duplex's with out a problem, it even duplex's 12x18 from the drawer, no more bypass tray.

it averages out to about .06 cents per click. as far as the cost i am not sure what they did for that. i do know through our canon dealer we do not have to pay for supplies that was all figured into the final contract.

here is a bit more information. we absolutely love this machine.

Canon USA: Product Details
