Font issues on OSX_between 2 computers

Hello, my name is Stan and Im new. I have to start out with a major problem and a need to resolve quickly. We are working off 2 G5s one with OSX 10.4.9 using Suitcase X1. Quark 7.

The other is OSX 10.4.10 Suitcase X1 and Fusion on Quark 7.

The problem, the exact same font folder loaded with different results on output. (Reflow) causing some type to not show.

This started with Quark 7.0. Anyone have any ideas.

Is the font one of the system fonts?
If so, does the font reside in the system on one machine and not the other?

That's where I would start.

This sounds like a font conflict I have been seeing lately. We run suitcase on our workstations as well. Regardless, I have been solving the problem by disabling all active fonts then only activate the fonts being use for the job. Make sure you create a new font set in suitcase.

This is a common problem especially when you have multiple copies of the same font installed or link to suitcase.

The new font set must be the secret, because we only load the fonts needed for a job for every job

After I deactivate font globally, I prefer creating per job font sets as a way of keeping tracking of what is actually being activated.

Try Font Explorer...free download from linotype.
Works great, better than suitcase.
Simple and easy. Auto activation wont work with quark.

output the work from the computer that has Fusion...and get a copy for the other one

in the meantime, if you must work off both, uninstall completly X1 and take the fonts you need to load and put them in the Library/Fonts folder...apply a label color so you know which ones to remove when your done

be sure and deactivate all the fonts before you uninstall

It would be better to load them into the "username"/Library/Fonts folder.
That way you don't eliminate any system fonts by accident.
