Preflighting

We're experiencing many of our customers placing a white vector area on 'Overprint' in Illustrator CS3'. All 'Preflighting' in Pitstop that I see doesn't throw up a flag on that issue. Is Pitstop the Best way to preflight incoming artwork? What's the best way to get it done?

Fletch

Here's a thread about white overprint. Haven't personally tried the software they talk about though.

Didn't help.

That particular software didn't catch the overprint white because It looks like it isn't created to catch items that have the attribute 'checked' in Illustrator. It looks for CMYK values of 0% and whatnot.

8 does as well, but it might be buried in the custom preflight settings. If you can't find it, i can probably dig it up

Someone posted a thread not long ago about a free Illustrator plug-in "White OP Detector_CS2.aip" which I downloaded and use. It will flag every illustrator file that you open that has white overprint or is ok. I've caught one or two using this plug-in. Do a search on PPF for it or maybe someone will remember it. It might be in "tips and tricks" thread.

Hey Guys!

White overprint?

FlightCheck detects those "designer's jokes". Also, Freehand has an option that selects objects with overprint, so you need to take a look which objects are white overprint.

Some sw rips has options that block the overprint in whites. Mine does it, but some jobs requires white overprints. It depends the kind of jobs you have.

To be or not to be.

Hey rab! I'm the only way to preflight files. I'm the source.

Hey Beer! Good to see you again! How's going in England. We have a host called Dean and he's not so friendly. He likes to dance twist but don't like tequila (just look at National and Local Weather Forecast, Radar, Map and Report)
