We done more testing. We move the type to top most layer, change color space, print from PDF/X1-a as well as straight from InDesign. No matter what we tried screen looks fine but we still see a faint hint of shadow within the text box when it's printed.
Our solution is simple, do it without the soft shadow and it printed just fine. Our other option was to re-create the shadow in PS, but designers being lazy. That's out of the question.
I think it's unfortunate designers these days don't care about how things are actually printed and the process it takes to get their jobs printed correctly. They are perfectly happy with what Adobe or Quark put in their programs and thinks if it's there, it must work right? They think it'll save them time and all so they can be more "creative". Sadly, they can't be further away from the truth.
Thank you all for responding.
