Quark 7 - Where's the Export To PDF/X options?

I have a client who asked me what format pdf files i want and we normally ask for PDF/X-1a but he couldn't find the option in Quark 7 anywhere.

Is that correct? I can't believe they left it out.....

I will have to go looking for an installer to pass on to the client.

Use Acrobat Pro to make the PDF/X-1a's by preflighting them for PDF/X-1a. If it passes it will let you know. If it doesn't, it won't.

Forget Quark and making PDF's. Just make PostScript. It's a heck of a lot safer.

I have been recommending PDF/X for a while with our Indesign customers but i am annoyed/disappointed with Quark for the obvious oversight.

didnt someone mention that pdf/x1a can clip some colours when saving?

whenever i'm asked what type of pdf i usually say press quality - i used to say pdf/x1a but i'm certain it's been mentioned on here that they can result in a colour shift

now this is just something nagging me and i will be really happy to be put straight on that - please!

as for pdf's out of quack - well first of all good luck, and it does seem the best way is postscript mostly - again - best of luck

PDFx1a from QX7

seems to me that the PDF/X options are in a 'verification' setting when you choose to export as PDF. I'm not able to print a PS file in 10.4.x, so I typically print to the Adobe 8.0 printer to get a PDFx1a from QX7. Of course, you have to have Acrobat Pro installed to get the Adobe printer.
