So I was looking at getting the CS3 upgrade for my wife (graphic designer) and am realizing Adobe is really killing us with the new suites.

She currently has the 2.3 premium CS which includes PS, IR, AI, ID, DW and Acrobat

which is great..has all the print production and some basic web stuff with IR and DW.

Imageready has been killed and replaced with Fireworks, which is only available now in the web edition or Master Suite Collection.

so for her to keep the print and basic web functionality she currently has an upgrade to the Master Collection is required...the Upgrade is 1999 from CS 2.3

Am I missing something here?

The new version of Photoshop does what Image-ready used to do and more Cory. You can even make Flash web presentations in Photoshop now!
They even changed Photoshop's name to Photoshop Extended.
Just make sure you got lots of disk space as CS3 requires Bridge and Version cue to be installed, and with the other apps bloated as well it's more than 2x's the space CS2 required.

can you do imagemaps in PS 3 and export optimized web graphics? I haven't looked at any of the betas for PS 3 yet

No idea I've only had it installed for a few days now and I'm not a web designer. I did make a cool Flash web slide show using Photoshop CS3 tho of our flooded shop. Ya we got whacked with that Nor'easter, got 13" of water in the shop and the Platesetter is history. Insurance is paying for a replacement just waiting for it to get here. Should be back up in about 2 weeks, I hope.

is it feasable to ask our American brothers and Sisters to purchase it for us and ship it over :lol:

maybe corey can start an online shop just for ppf'ers in non USA

With the price of software in Europe you'd think some enterprising individual would start his or her own Graphics software company.

I think they might have a lone guy sitting at a desk in denver. Was a few years ago I thought they moved all development to India.
