FM screening AND Paragon screening on same plate?

My shop foreman wants to run 1 lot 2up on the same plate with one being FM and the other being Paragon. Is this even possible? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My G*d, can anything EVER be easy in prepress???

ROHfan,

I usually just feed the plate back into the platesetter with multiple exposures. A bit of a pain with positive plates though..... Have fun

not sure if this applies but apogee and trueflow and rampage can use two screens at the same time

trueflow have spekta i think - basically i believe they combine conventional screening with a stoccastic - is this what you are after?

if so - yes ity can be done - whether you are geared up for it i dont know - you might have to out-source the plates perhaps

little help - sorry :?

Okay, here is the fix that I got from Artworks (They actually got back to me in under an hour!). I have to create a new Rip workflow in Nexus. It's called a Screen Page workflow where the file actually gets screened right after it's ripped and trapped. The screening is embedded in the file and cannot be overwritten in the Impo workflow. So, I just have to dupe the file, give it two names and screen it two different ways.

Will let y'all know if it works.

The screened page workflow is probably the best. Just make sure that you incorporate any curves that you do in your regular plating process in the screened page workflow. All you're gonna be doing after that is passing screened impo's to your platesetter.

The reason I mention this is that we apply a curve to our FM plates. If you don't and just run linear, your FM page is gonna probably be really heavy in comparison to your Paragon page (especially in the Magenta).

There's also a vector way to do this...but it's rather involved. Try the screened page first.

I just tested the workflow and realized something. Should I rip the file normally to my raster trap WF and THEN do a RUN FILE on the screened page workflow? I'm waiting (2+hours) for artworks to get back to me.

That is EXACTLY what you should do. Rip the page normally...don't change a thing. Then, do a run file with the screened page workflow on the link file.

Just make sure your copy files are ok. Also check your dependancies so your links work ok.

Thanks for the input, Dave. What I wound up doing was to make a new RasterTrapLinks WF and I just added the ScreenPage modules after it so I wouldn't have to do a run file and mess with the naming convention. Worked pretty well. And the screening is supposed to be bypassed in the Impo WF.

Thanks for reminding me about the curves. Almost forgot! 8O

Good for you. I'm glad it worked for ya.

Nice job on combining the workflows...

The impo will bypass the screening...a far as it's concerned, it's a 1 bit tiff.
