How much do you spend on Ink?

Hi all,

Just wondering how much $$ everyone spends on ink per year. This is more for the shops printing 4C.

Regards,
Greg

Don't know our total right off the bat, but on average my experience is the ink costs are about 8% of your paper costs.

I'm more interested in total costs associated with ink. Most people do a little GCR to cut back on CMY and help with gray balance. But costs are still pretty high, especially if you do a lot of 4C work. It doesn't have as much affect if you run a lot of 2C work.

I'm not sure how well it relates to paper costs. I would think it could change if your printing on coated versus uncoated because the coated would cost more and possibly require less ink.

It also depends on what type screening you use and especially the press.
Some presses can be up color & in register in no time.... some can't.

This could be used to describe press operators, too.
