Cleaning Film Processor

Well, we moved to a presstek CTP setup, and have not made film in over 2 months now. The film processor has been neglected and is in need of some serious cleaning. I was able to clean the fixer rollers fine, but the developer rollers are a mess. Are there any chemicals out there to eat away hardened developer? I have been using very hot water, and scrubbing it with a toothbrust. Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

I would try some straight developer and using a Scotchbrite pad.

If the developer doesn't work, maybe try and use some toilet bowl cleaner.

But definitely use the Scotchbrite pad.

I would use the Mythbusters method (the concrete truck cleaning solution):

I stick of dynamite.

That should clean it right out......

We used to use a cleaner that was made by Kodak. It came in like a 12 oz bottle and the liquid was Red in color. No scrubbing just hot water and let the processor run for about half an hour. The rollers would come out like brand new. Much cleaner than you could ever get them with scotch brite. We found after scrubbing tooo hard and ruining a set of rollers. I will see if I can find the exact name of the cleaner. Maybe your supplier could ask around.

Here is the only thing I could find on Kodaks site.
KODAK Roller Transport Cleanup Film 4955
Maintain your automatic and roller-type processors with this roller transport cleanup film. It removes precipitates, dirt, and other materials that may be deposited on the transport mechanism.

I wouldn't do that. I think it's bleach and fixer that are deadly, but I certaily wouldn't mix it with developer either. Not even a llittle bit in water and just what's on the rollers for developer.

Hot water and a scotch brite. several scotchbrites, they seem to wear out quick.

If you have a sink large enough soaking it over a weekend in warm to hot water works wonders too.
