Howdy,

We're having a problem with printing pdf's to a canon digital copier.

When you look at the black text with a loupe,, you can see that there is a definate screen pattern. (like 95%) from 100 percent black type.

This didn't happen in the past and the technician can't figure it out.

Put some type on a page with 90% 95% 99% Blacks
and see what happens.

You haven't selected it to print "Image" in the Acrobat print settings have you? (Advanced, Postscript settings)

no, not printing as an image.

We made a new pdf with various screens (thanks for the advice) and sure enough the solid 100% black prints about 95-97% and looks just like a halftone dot.

It's as though the thing isn't calibrated to 100% black ?

Did you do a 99% Black ?
What did that print like?

On some of our copiers if you print and leave it at the default Gray it will print as a tint of gray and I have to change it to CMYK composite to get a solid black.

we finally found a solution to this problem.

When the pdf is in grayscale the text and solid blacks turn out screened...about 95%.

When we convert the blacks to rgb in pitstop it comes out 100%.

This does not seem right but it works.
