Preps Konica bishubPro C500 workflow

I have Preps set up for use with a Harlequin RIP and Lino film imagesetter workflow. We just acquired a Konica bizhubPro C500 with a Fiery RIP. (They're calling it a 'digital press' but really it's a $30k copier). Question: how do I set up Preps for use with the Konica, or can I?

What files or drivers do I need? This Konica model is new, so the technician is not much help in supplying whatever I might need.

All you need is the PPD for the C500. Heck, you can just use the Acrobat PPD and you should be just fine. There's really nothing you *need* to do. You could setup a printer in Preps to point to the hold queue on the Fiery RIP. Then use the PPD to define the device.

Which Fiery are you using by the way? Please say it's not the embedded controller or the S300. Is there any way you can send back the Fiery and get the CREO RIP? It is soooooooooooo much better in so many different ways.

... but there is nothing I can do about that. The machine was paid for, in cash, 2 weeks ago, so it's a done deal.

Thank you for your help with Preps. I have it working now -- saves SO much time over imposing in InDesign.
