Preps Alternative

... So, $3k for that puppy, eh? I think I'd sooner get a faster Mac!

I've heard of Dynastrip, and ImpoStrip, as JDF capable Imposition programs... Anyone using them? Prices? Anything else out there?
Thanks.

- Mac

I'm using Dynastrip and dig it, color maping is not as great as I would like but i ran Preps 4.2 before and switched to Dynastrip because it was $$$$.

We have two seats of it and have no true issues.

Dynastrip is good stuff. If you need anything for it let me know. My associate and I sell it and support it.

Thanks Guy's. I tried pimping the Kodak rep for a copy today, he gufawed, and said he'd see what he could do.
I told him unless it's free, I'm buying my buddy at RIT a 6-pack and having him write the half-dozen JDF file's I need the program for.
Matt, if you want to shoot me a quote via PM or eMail, I'd be interested.
Thanks again.

I used Dynastrip for about 8 or 9 years when i was in commercial printing
( now strictly packaging ) and it is a very solid app.

What about Dynastrip with nexus? What about all the old jobs imposed with preps template and marks? Do they convert?

You can convert the Preps templates with Dynastrip but it won't include any Smartmarks. And Nexus recommends Dynastrip over Preps simply because they have a working agreement...which they do not have with Kodak.

One of the higher end shops in town uses Signastation instead of Preps because it is cheaper. The people I talked said it worked fine. They run Prinergy.

PantherMac_ I use Apogeex 2.5 with Pandora 2.7 right now, works very well creating imposed pdf's. Soon to be upgrading to ApogeeX 3.0 and switching to Esko Graphics Plato 5 for impositions. Agfa seem's to be dumping Kodak because the JDF version 1.1 in Pandora does not work properly with Agfa's Digital Step and Repeat TP, Plato has JDF version 1.3 and is supposed to work much better.
