Anybody else using Artpro?

I work for a repro house that deals in artwork & repro for high end packaging. We use Illustrator for artwork and Artpro for the repro. I was wondering if many others out there use Artpro for repro?

Our management is trying to steer us away from using Artpro (cutting costs) and making do with Illustrator but Illustrator is no where near as good for trapping, viewing separations etc.

I know a lot of you out there use rips for trapping but we have to supply 'repro ready' digital files to printers so they can step them up etc.

the newest versions of Illustrator have a trap feature built into it. I think it will only make process traps though.

With out RIP and proofer we can trap and them turn each separation into a black repro.

Using Illustrator as a prepress trapping application

Hi,

I work for an international repro company which specialise in high end blue chip accounts.

We utilise Artpro and Illustrator for repro and adopt two workflows. We find that some files its more comercially viable to keep the file in illustrator and trap and process them through there.

For our illustrator workflow we utiise pre press plugins that are available. Have a look at www.eskographics.com ,thier deskpack plugins for ai handles traping for both linework and CT to CT so its pretty good.

As always we have had good and bad results but if you need any further support in any of the applications please get in touch.

Thanks

E :P
