Does the file have an embedded and/or linked Illustrator file that contains a patter style? If this is causing the problem then you can try "expanding" the pattern. This can be done by selecting your art elements in Illustrator that contain the pattern then under the Objects menu select Expand.

It might be a MS Office Graph from Excel or similar program. We ran into that this week and the RIP put up an "Unknown ColorSpace" error. We took the graph and exported it from the PDF as a TIFF (the whole page), opened it in Photoshop and cropped it down, made sure it was grayscale (instead of RGB) and inserted it back into the PDF as a page, move the TIFF graphic on to the graph and deleted the old graph.

Could it be some GIF or PNG graphic (for the web) using the Web-safe color palette is in there? I've known of a technique for making web-safe colors simulate other colors by mixing 2 or more of them in a pattern that will resolve or blend into that other color.

Could be that?
