Welcome GStreet. The party's just getting started. Throw your coat on the rack and grab a spot at the bar. Someone will be around shortly to get your order. :P

Welcome GStreet, sounds like with your experience you'll be able to help a great deal. The entertainment in this place is pretty good and the bouncers are pretty liberal. So Kick back enjoy your drink and have a good time.

Hey

My name is Glenn

I have been in prepress since 94 and have slowly moved into the Advertising industry because of the fact that Prepress companies are no longer around and and there is are need for people such as myself to make sure the work is correct from the start..
Things that I have implemented over the past years are a full RGB workflow, Epsons 9800 and 4800 for Proofing, One visions Asura, Fall PDF workflow and aslo Helios.
I stumbled on this website looking for information on what others a doing because I seemed to be always at the Bleeding edge and come across a lot of issues.

G'day glenno, glad you stumbled in, it's REALLY nice to get different perspectives and opinions from related trades, we're mostly prepressers but not exclusivly. Welcome.

Hello everyone....

Well even though I have already made some posts, I am now going to introduce myself and give a little background.

I have been working in the print industry since 1987 when I started as a layout artist and screen maker/printer in a screen printing shop out of high school (this info may date me as ancient..Heh). I started layouts with a typesetters wheel, film, camera, homemade stepper and developer trays. Heh! Thank God for computers. In 1995 I went back to school for Graphic Design. But, I always end up back in some kind of prepress position. I worked in several different shops with different RIPs. Most recent position is in a completely digital shop. I am the Prepress/Graphic Design manager and Operator of a Nexpress 2100 and Nuveras. I am also setting up the Xerox Process Manager and Web Services.

I have seen many numerous changes in technology and sometimes I may ask stupid questions, but it is mainly to keep up with all that is new. I am also now back in school to get a higher degree in Interactive Media.

Lorie

Hello,

My name is Dennis, I'm a pre-press/pressman/small printshop manager here in Silicon Valley. At first, started just to design flyers, brochures and biz card. Company where I work right now decided to put me in control of everything but not buying of newer pre-press equipment that is why I'm stuck in the old Mac G3 OS 8.5 System with Screen Harlequin 310PM Rip. And that is the reason also why I stumble to this forum and glad to be here.

Welcome to PPF, D!

Stuck with some old equipment indeed! Maybe you can find some threads here that can help put together a case for upgrading the prepress.

Happy 4th of July! Have a beer and we'll see you on the 5th!
