Hi, my name is Milos, and i`m a beginner desktop publisher, sort-of working as an apprentice in a small print shop. I hope you won`t be too harsh in criticizing my newbie questions

Milos welcome to the insanity of this trade. any question not asked is a stupid question. I belong to an organization who's motto is "Share Your Knowledge"
That's what we do here so don't be shy, find the correct forum you need help with (or want to offer help with) and post away

Hello!!
Hello all! Another female in the business. Been in printing since May 1994. Love the craziness and many opportunities to learn. I started out in bindery, ran an MBO, Bourg, Rollem, cutters, drills, shipping, etc. I then worked customer service (my least favorite job). Always in charge of inventory and ordering. Ran a press a few times. Had tons of fun! Learned some stripping over the years and now into preflight/imposition. Next week I start in typesetting.
??So... who is Sparky? What is your local business?

hmmmmm tcp-albany? you in Up-State NY?
Sparky is a tired old Lithographer, who after 35+ years in commercial printing is ready to call it quits. If I take iinto account my background in photography and street sense of hard core marketing and sales I grew up with my dad, I'd say I've been at this trade for about 45 years or more.
welcome to the site 8)

Newest Newbie
Salutations, all. I am a newbie to the forum. I have been in the printing biz for over twenty years now and still don't have a clue what I want to be when I grow up. I work in the prepress department of a business forms printing facility (ZZZ's)...not exciting commercial work but it will do until somebody very rich wants to pay someone to actually hand draw cartoons. I know - I live in a time warp and I'm not coming out any time soon. Seriously, I have been searching this site for a while and I think it is great - solid advice/instruction mixed with a double shot of humor. Please be kind, we got all this digital stuff in 2004 and I still have the scars to prove it. I have many things to learn and it looks like I came to the right place to beg for help. Thanks, Papa.

I just wanted to introduce myself.
Im new to this forum.
I am a graphic artist/ prepress manager in a new jersey print shop that does mostly thermography.
Nice to see a forum for pre-press people.
I look forward to exchanging ideas and other information with the people here.
Dave
