hey there.
i'm steve. i'm new to the site...thus me saying hi
i work at a tiny flexo shop called pyramid label in napa california, where i'm the entire prepress department.
i was raised in the prepress world, so i'm familiar with it, but i'm new to working in the industry. very proficient in the adobe suite, though.
as for pyramid, we mostly do wine and organic food pressure-sensitive labels. we do custom dies, but don't make them in house. we have 2 presses, a 7" and a 10". we're hella-out of date with everything except illustrator. we even RIP through expressRIP 5.3 running on mac os 9.2
that's about it. nothing major, just a new guy[/url]

New to all of this
Hi, my name is Alicia and I just graduated in June with a B.A. in graphic design. I live in Virginia and work at a small offset press(mostly 2 color jobs) where I am the only designer/prepress person. My school(VCU) didn't really cover anything past designing on the computer and laser prints. This has left me clueless and frustrated at work by our Rip/imagesetter and the busted customer files that are handed to me.
I've joined this forum for selfish reasons, as I don't have enough experience to give anyone advice on anything. I often feel like the only thing I learned in college was how to make a latte.

2 weeks past due
Hello. My name is Anthony and I am an alcohol... Oh wait wrong forum, I am a PrePress Color Tech. Wow that was hard. They are right the hardest part is admitting you have a problem.
I have been on here two weeks and have posted a few replies here and there , but this is the first time I realized there was a place to let you know that I exist. This site is great, I came in this morning and though I was the first to find this site at my company, my coworkers in Color Management here were both looking around the site and telling me info they had found.
The company works with large format digital printing with numerous types of printers and rips. So I am sure that even though the plate forums won't help me much, I will find help in other sections.
Anyway I am here, and until I can get out of this dreadful/wonderful field of prepress, I will remain here.
Anthony
