Welcome Mychal. Awesome way to spell your name.
We don't start bashing until you've made a few more posts.

I never introduced myself. My name is Jarrod, and I've been working in prepress since April of last year, when I moved from Oregon back to Indiana.

I really enjoy graphic design (which I know how to do properly now) and web design. I also paint and do random art that you can check out at my web site: www.jarrodmorgan.com. About due for another update.

Also, a big thanks to everyone here. I've learned a ton and laughed my ass off in the meantime.

hey everyone.... i'm a newbee at this prepress stuff trying to take in everything i can. i'm a graduate of SCAD majored in graphic design and minored in drawing.

i currently work for Insty-Prints and am their only prepress / graphics person in house... it's been quite a learning experience! needless to say... their help desk at the home office have been my bestest friends... due to all the questions i always have.

ppf was recommended to me by some people in the gdf so far... love this place! if anyone knows of some useful websites other than this one OBVIOUSLY... for prepress knowledge... i would love to bookmark as many as i can get my hands on! thank you all!

welcome tessa. there ARE a couple of other prepress forums sites out there, but this is the one to be at. The knowledgeable, and competent hang here, most of the time. ...hope your stay is as enjoyable/helpful as mine has been.

Mychal, I wouldnt worry about any bashing from any of the regs, I seem to take the brunt of that.. so anytime you like - feel free to bash too. its what Im here for.

welcome to you also Jarrod.

cheers!!

Hi All.

Just joined this site moments ago. At first glance it looks great, I have a feeling I will pick up a lot of good information here.

I am the Graphic Production Manager at a Children’s Book Publisher in Cambridge MA. To quickly sum up that role, I am the “technical file guy” and the “photoshop guy”. While I am told by my printers / repro houses that I supply them with excellent files, I still feel like there is so much more that I need to know. So that is what brought me here.

Welcome Gregg! There's a wealth of knowledge here, you just have to sort through the rest of it to find them. :P
Look forward to your contributions to the site. Photoshop is one of my favorite programs.

Hi there

Actually I have no clue why im here..
I have no prepress experience what so ever, and i'm not sure if I need it.

But i would like to scratch the surface anyway!
I know my way around in Photoshop, douing retouch and manipulations. It was even at the napp forums I heard about this forum.

So just out of curiosity were should I start learning about this huge subject? books, topics or other to get me startet. Or more importantly will I be able to use the knowledge from this forum when I only have a small inkjet printer and atm only rarely send print projeckts to a lab/printer?

(Also I'm not native english so I might make more than normal typos..)

A little personal info:
Im young (21) and i live in Copenhagen, Denmark. Curently a student but I'm hoping some day to make a living as eather a photographer or a retoucher (maybe a mix).

Ill look around and see if i can make any sence of all the huge knowledge there seems to be in this forum.
