Hi,
I'm Alex, originally from near Melbourne in Australia.
I did a graphic design degree at uni, then redeemed myself by getting a prepress job. I worked for a smallish printing company for two years, now I'm in the middle of a year off to travel and work around Europe (in unrelated industries).
The reason I've joined these forums now is that in the absence of working in a prepress, I realise it wasn't such a terrible place to work after all, and I actually kinda miss it (call me crazy, but so is everyone here from what I've read).
So until I get back home, I'll be using this as my prepress fix, and for a bit of entertainment.

Well, at the moment, I'm typing this reply from the computer at my job doing data entry in the insurance department of a supermarket chain...
After that, we'll just have to see what the temp agencies can get me. Tried outbound sales at a call centre. Worst 3 hours of my life.

Oh and the reason he misses prepress is because his boss was a really funny bastard who treated him good. Few gags, free beer, free lunches, moral-boosting prepress gambling, business-card flinging into the box to decides who does the shit job, free poster printing etc.
Word on the street is that his manager is almost as mental as him.
