I have not been sucsessful in processing DCS2 files in Quark either I place in InDesignCS or I will use DCS Merger a free utility to merge and then I can use the DCS2 file in Quark.

Made a grayscale file in Photoshop CS2
added a spot (Pantine) channel
Saved as a DCS 2 file, single file with color composite
Placed into quark 6.5
Printed as sep to nexus 7.5

Worked fine for me - no special xtensions or procedure

no probelms with quark and dcs files here - in fact quark is the most likely to work well with a dcs in my experience - but then i aint using a workflow....

with quark and illustrator taking .psd files now i seldom use a dcs file - just import the .psd file - for me it works better
