PDF Workflows & Customer Changes

First off, I use the Agfa Apogee Prepress System.

Next, here's the scenerio:

I receive a 24 pg book in IDCS that I make into a PDF. The PDF gets dropped into my Apogee System and I make proofs.

As always the proofs come back with changes to 5 pages. These changes cannot be made to the PDF using Pitstop - they must be made to the original file.

What does everyone else do:

1) Make a new PDF of the ENTIRE 24pg book?

2) Make 5 new single page PDF's for EACH of the 5 pages with changes?

Thanks
Jason

We just change the pages that need to change and put them back into the pdf. It makes for a bit more work sometimes but less chance for new issues Ex: the dreaded font corruption.

I would make a new 24 pg pdf. I don't like having a bunch of single page pdf's to sift through. Just a preference though.

use a pdf editor that lets you make the changes?

Make changes to ID doc and then make single PDF?s of pages that have changed. Keeps the original file up to date in case of reprint etc. Helps if you have late binding imposition software.

slartybartfast> There's an edit feature on this forum that allows you to remove your post or edit it, even if you have already hit submit. just a suggestion, didn't know if you knew?...
